生平:
1928年，生於英國倫敦。1954
– 56年就讀劍橋大學基督學院。1957
赴美。1966-89
年在Rockefeller大學擔任教授，之後再轉往加州大學。馬勒是位動物行為學家，他的貢獻主要是研究有關於動物行為的發聲法，特別是鳥鳴的社交功能。
